Bloomberg Podcast: Carbonite CEO sheds light on SMB security concerns

The majority of U.S. small and midsize businesses (SMBs) think the government isn't doing enough to protect them from ransomware, hacking and other cybercrimes, according to Carbonite CEO Mohamad Ali, who was a special guest on this week's Bloomberg Baystate Business Hour podcast.

Ali, who was citing the results of a new Carbonite survey of 250 SMB owners, said that 75% of SMBs feel the government isn't doing enough to support their digital interests, while 74% think the government is actually hurting their digital interests.

"There are 6.3 million small and medium-sized businesses in the United States and they are the job creation engine of our country," Ali said. "It's really important that as a government we do what's needed to help them grow because they create the jobs."

Listen to this podcast and you'll learn about:

  • The most pressing cybersecurity concerns for today's SMBs
  • Why it's getting increasingly difficult for U.S.-based SMBs to do business in Europe
  • The growing threat that ransomware poses to businesses across the globe
